Acclimatization tips
Plan a gradual ascent if possible — spend a night at a lower elevation before heading up.
Give yourself 1–2 days of easy activity before exerting yourself. AMS symptoms can appear the next morning.
Know the signs of serious altitude illness: severe headache, vomiting, loss of coordination, confusion. Descend immediately if these occur.
Talk to your doctor before the trip about Acetazolamide (Diamox) — especially if you've had AMS before.
Avoid alcohol, sleeping pills, and heavy meals for the first 48 hours.
This is general information only — not medical advice. Consult your physician before traveling to high-altitude destinations, especially if you have heart, lung, or blood conditions.
