A slower two-day itinerary focused on Antigua's coffee culture — touring a working finca on the slopes of Volcán de Agua and exploring the lesser-visited villages in the surrounding valley.
One of Guatemala's oldest coffee estates, a 10-minute tuk-tuk ride from central Antigua. The 2-hour tour covers the full process from cherry to cup. Tasting included. Book online or at their entrance.
A 30-minute walk uphill from the north end of the city gives you the classic panorama — the city laid out below with Volcán de Agua rising behind. Go in late afternoon for the best light.
The food carts around the park do excellent chuchitos (small Guatemalan tamales) and elotes (grilled corn with lime and cheese) for almost nothing. A great local dinner for under 30 GTQ.
A 15-minute tuk-tuk from Antigua brings you to a village where traditional backstrap loom weaving has been practiced for centuries. Several family workshops offer demonstrations and let you try. Buying directly from weavers is the best way to support the community.
Tuk-tuks from Antigua to any nearby village cost 25–50 GTQ. They'll wait for you and bring you back — negotiate the round trip before you go.
A tiny village below Volcán de Agua with a beautifully preserved 16th-century bishop's palace attached to its church. Almost no tourists. The views of the valley from the church steps are outstanding.
