Seven days covering the best of Bali — Ubud temples and rice terraces, a sunrise hike on Mount Batur, beach clubs in Seminyak, and snorkeling off Nusa Lembongan.
Skip the overpriced airport taxis. Grab a Grab (Indonesia's Uber equivalent) from just outside the arrivals hall for half the price. Set your destination before leaving the terminal.
One of Bali's most beautiful restaurants — a vast jungle greenhouse with Indonesian dishes elevated to fine dining standards. The beef rendang is extraordinary.
Seminyak beach is Bali's most civilized — wide, clean, and lined with beach clubs. Potato Head Beach Club has the best pool and sundowner culture. Day passes are around 500,000 IDR (30 USD) with a food/drink credit.
The most iconic sea temple in Bali — perched on a sea stack at high tide. 60,000 IDR entry. Arrive 90 minutes before sunset to explore before it crowds up.
The most photographed rice terraces in Bali, just north of Ubud. Go at 7–8 AM before the tour buses arrive. The Ceking Rice Terrace viewpoint café gives you the best angle with a coffee in hand.
The Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary is a legitimate temple complex that happens to have 700 free-ranging macaques living in it. Keep your sunglasses in your bag and anything shiny hidden.
Wake at 2 AM for a 2-hour hike to the rim of an active volcano in time for sunrise over the caldera lake. The view at the top — clouds below, lake below, the horizon going pink — is unforgettable. Guides are required (approx 300,000–400,000 IDR).
A Hindu water temple with sacred spring pools used for ritual purification bathing. Arrive before 9 AM and dress respectfully (sarongs provided). One of Bali's most spiritually significant sites.
Several schools in Ubud offer half-day cooking classes — you visit a local market, learn to make a sambal and 4–5 dishes, then eat everything you cooked. Paon Bali and Lobong are both excellent.
25-minute fast boat from Sanur (book the night before, ~250,000 IDR round trip). Lembongan is Bali's best-value day trip — rent a scooter, snorkel with manta rays at Manta Point, and eat fresh grilled fish on the beach.
Most international flights from Ngurah Rai (DPS) depart late at night. A beach club day on your last day is the standard move — Finns Beach Club in Canggu has excellent food and a great pool.
