Information about Hurricane Marie causing intense rain across state of Baja California Sur ('Warnings and insurance' page)
View full US State Dept advisoryCabo San Lucas sits at the very tip of the Baja Peninsula where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez, and that collision defines everything here. El Arco — the signature rock arch at Land's End — marks the exact point where two oceans meet, and it's accessible by water taxi or panga from the marina. Lover's Beach on the Sea of Cortez side is calm and swimmable; walk around the base of the arch to Divorce Beach on the Pacific side and you're in a completely different ocean, with powerful surf and no swimming. Sport fishing is serious here — marlin, dorado, yellowfin tuna, and wahoo are reliably offshore, and the Cabo marina fleet is one of the most professional in the hemisphere. The nightlife on the marina strip and Medano Beach is loud, organized, and delivers on its promise. The restaurant scene has matured considerably: Los Tres Gallos is Michelin Guide-recognized and earns it. November through April brings whale watching — Pacific humpbacks and gray whales pass through in numbers, and the tours are well-run. Medano Beach is swimmable year-round. Summer is hot, humid, and hurricane-adjacent — discounted but genuinely punishing. Peak season runs October through May. Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) is 45 minutes from downtown, shared with San José del Cabo, and well-served by direct flights from most major US cities.

Aggressive Timeshare PitchesTour / Guide Scam
Timeshare "free breakfast/excursion" pitches are extremely aggressive along the Marina and in the airport arrivals hall. A "welcome gift" tied to attending a presentation is a timeshare sales lead, not an official tourism service.
Pre-Book Airport TransfersTransport
Confirm your airport transfer is pre-booked through your hotel or a licensed company. Unlicensed drivers soliciting in the arrivals hall have been linked to overcharging and, rarely, more serious incidents.
Dangerous Riptides on Pacific BeachesOutdoor / Nature
Cabo's Pacific-side beaches (including Playa Solmar/Divorce Beach) have dangerous riptides and are not safe for swimming despite being beautiful. Swim only at marked Sea of Cortez beaches like Médano.
