Utah, United States
Park City has two mountains that were merged into one resort (Park City Mountain + Canyons Resort, combined by Vail Resorts in 2015) and is now the largest ski resort in the United States by acreage: 7,300 acres. It shares a ridgeline with Deer Valley (ski-only, snowboarders not permitted, consistently rated the best service in North American skiing) and is 30 minutes from Salt Lake City International Airport — the closest international ski resort to a major hub anywhere in the US. The Utah powder is real: the Wasatch receives an average of 500 inches of light, dry powder annually ("Greatest Snow on Earth" is a trademark on Utah license plates, not a marketing exaggeration). Park City hosts the Sundance Film Festival every January, which either makes it more interesting (celebrity sightings) or more annoying (traffic, booked hotels), depending on your values.

Park City Mountain Resort (main base) · Canyons Village (western base) · Deer Valley Resort · Old Town Park City (historic Main Street) · Sundance Mountain Resort (day trip, 45 min) · Salt Lake City (30 min, gateway)
Salt Lake City International (SLC) is 36 miles from Park City — 35 minutes on I-80 and Highway 224 in normal conditions. This is the best airport-to-resort ratio of any major US ski destination. Car rental at SLC ($50–80/day) is the standard move; the Canyon Transportation shuttle ($45 one way) is viable if you're not renting. Once in Park City, free town buses run between the resort areas continuously. Park City Mountain and Canyons Village are connected by the Flatiron lift — you can ski between them without leaving the mountain. Deer Valley is a separate resort 10 minutes away by free bus and requires a separate lift ticket (or Ikon Pass). Book ski rentals in advance at ski shops in Old Town — $45–65/day for performance gear. Avoid driving during Sundance Film Festival (mid-January) unless you have no choice.
