Whistler Blackcomb is the largest ski resort in North America by skiable terrain — 8,171 acres across two mountains connected by the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola (4.4 km span, the world's longest unsupported lift span when it opened in 2008). The vertical drop of 1,609 meters makes every run a commitment. Whistler Village was purpose-built for skiing in the 1970s with car-free pedestrian access and a density of accommodation and restaurants that functions well year-round. The 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics were held here; the downhill course on Dave Murray is still skied by the public. The drive from Vancouver (the city, not the airport) is 120 km on the Sea-to-Sky Highway (Highway 99) — a spectacular 1.5–2 hour drive past fjords, mountains, and Squamish. Whistler also works in summer for mountain biking, hiking, and the Gondola crossing.

Whistler Village (car-free pedestrian core) · Whistler Mountain (south face / bowls) · Blackcomb Mountain (glacier / north face) · Upper Village (Four Seasons side) · Creekside (quieter alternative base) · Function Junction (local restaurants / breweries) · Sea-to-Sky Highway corridor
Vancouver International (YVR) is the gateway — fly in, rent a car at YVR ($60–100/day), and drive the Sea-to-Sky Highway (Highway 99) north for 120 km (1.5–2 hours in normal conditions; allow 2.5–3 hours on powder days or busy weekends when the highway gets congested). Whistler Shuttle and Epic Mountain Express run from YVR and Vancouver hotels ($75–90 one way, 2.5 hours). Whistler Village is entirely car-free pedestrian once you park; free WAVE bus service connects the village to Creekside and hotels. The PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola connects Whistler and Blackcomb mountains mid-mountain — plan to use it at least once. Book accommodation in Whistler Village or Upper Village for ski-in/ski-out access; Creekside is quieter and slightly cheaper. Epic Pass or IKON Pass provides the best value on lift tickets; window rate is ~CAD $225/day.
