Book a half-day airboat tour and combine it with a canoe rental in the afternoon at Collier-Seminole State Park. The Big Cypress wilderness is different from Everglades City — drier and more forested. Combine both for a full picture.
Two Greg Norman-designed courses at the Ritz Tiburón — the Black and Gold courses. Challenging, well-maintained, and the back nine on the Black has the best layout in southwest Florida. Book 30 days out. $200–300 in season.
If you're here October 15 – May 1, stone crab is mandatory. Truluck's or Yabba Island Grill both do it right. Order the large claws — the medium-to-large price difference is worth it for the meat yield.
Last morning: the best state park beach in southwest Florida. Narrow barrier island with the Gulf on one side and the pass on the other. Sea turtle nesting site June–August. Arrive at opening (8 AM) — it fills up and they close the gate.
