Two hours north of Orlando — tube 3 miles down a crystal-clear spring-fed river. 72°F water, no paddling required (the current does it), blue herons and soft-shell turtles the whole way. The best non-theme-park activity in a 2-hour radius of Orlando.
Morse Museum in the morning, boat tour at noon, Park Avenue lunch and gallery walk in the afternoon, Ravenous Pig for dinner.
Arrive at EPCOT at 4 PM — you only need the World Showcase, not the Future World rides. Eat and drink around the world. Stay for the fireworks.
Last morning — Mills 50 for Vietnamese banh mi and pho at lunch (Orlando has one of the best Vietnamese food scenes in the South), then head to the airport.
August in Orlando is brutal — 95°F, 90% humidity, afternoon thunderstorms that shut down outdoor rides for 30 minutes at a time, and maximum crowds. September is the sweet spot: lower crowd levels, 10% cooler, and still warm enough for the springs.
