Two days dedicated to Universal's two parks — Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley, the new Epic Universe if open, and how to actually ride everything without losing your mind.
Universal Islands of Adventure first. Hagrid's Motorbike Adventure is the best ride in Florida — period. Book Lightning Lane (formerly Express Pass) or arrive at rope drop at 8 AM. Hogsmeade in the afternoon when the morning crowd thins.
The Wizarding World's main sit-down restaurant — Great Feast platters, Butterbeer (frozen is the best), and pumpkin juice. It's a themed restaurant so expect themed-restaurant prices and quality. Worth doing for the experience; don't expect culinary excellence.
The best theme park ride in the United States as of 2026 — a 45-minute immersive experience through the Forbidden Forest. The standby wait can hit 3 hours; get there before the park opens or book the Virtual Queue through the Universal app. The motorcycle or sidecar position changes the experience; both are worth it.
The Universal Express Pass ($75–180/person depending on day) eliminates standby lines for most rides. On a weekend or holiday, you can do both parks fully in one day with Express vs two days without. Do the math. Buy it online in advance — it's more expensive at the gate.
Uber from MCO to the Universal hotel strip runs $25–35. If you're staying on-site, the hotel water taxi and walking paths connect directly to the parks. Car rental makes sense if you plan to leave Universal/Disney.
On-site hotel with free Express Pass included (the only hotel category that does this) — which makes the room rate significantly more competitive. The pool is the best on Universal property. Rates $220–400/night.
Start with Diagon Alley before the Butterbeer crowd arrives, then work through the rest of USF — Jurassic World, Fast and Furious, and the Simpson's area. Ride the Hogwarts Express back to Islands at the end.
Day 2, start at Universal Studios Florida. Diagon Alley is distinct from Hogsmeade — darker, more urban, and the Escape from Gringotts ride is excellent. The Hogwarts Express between parks requires a park-to-park ticket.
CityWalk between the parks has Voodoo Doughnut (the Portland-born chain — the Bacon Maple Bar is worth it as a novelty). Good for the walking hour between parks or the last hour of the trip.
The best actual restaurant at Universal — Emeril Lagasse's Tchoup Chop has better food than anything inside the parks. Good for the night between park days when you want a real meal.
