Two days covering Stingray City, Seven Mile Beach, and George Town snorkeling — the essentials without the luxury price tag.
Get to Stingray City early — the afternoon tours bring cruise ship passengers and the sandbar gets crowded. Morning tour, then spend the rest of the day on Seven Mile Beach.
A natural sandbar in about 4 feet of water where southern stingrays congregate because fishermen cleaned their catch there for decades. You can wade in, hold them, and get kissed by accident. Book a morning boat tour (~$40–55/person). It's genuinely fun and the stingrays are enormous.
Lunch spot favored by locals who work in finance. Farm-to-table approach using Caribbean produce. The fish of the day is always the right call. Not the cheapest option but not tourist-trap pricing either. Closes early afternoon.
The beach is long enough that even in high season you can find a quiet stretch. The northern end near Rum Point direction is less resort-heavy. The water is calm, warm, and clear — no reef means no rocks and no waves.
Rent a car at the airport — it's the best option. Drives on the left. The island is 22 miles end to end and you can get anywhere in 30 minutes. Taxis are expensive. Fuel is also expensive — budget for it.
Coral Gardens or the Governor's Beach snorkel sites in the morning, then drive to the east end for Rum Point and a calmer, more local version of the island.
Snorkel site off Cemetery Beach — one of the few self-guided spots where you can park, walk in, and see eagle rays, green sea turtles, and brain coral without booking a boat. Mask and fins recommended; rentals available nearby.
Everything costs more here than in Mexico or the DR. A casual dinner for two with drinks is easily $80–120 USD. Groceries at Fosters are solid if you want to cook some meals. Budget roughly $150–200/person/day for food plus activities, not counting accommodation.
