Pigeon Forge is Dollywood's hometown — 6 miles north of Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains entrance. Family entertainment is the main event: the park, mountain coasters, go-kart tracks, Alcatraz-style attractions, and the Old Mill District. It handles the family infrastructure that Gatlinburg doesn't, and Wears Valley Road on its western edge is one of the quietest and most beautiful back-doors into the Smokies.

Fly into McGhee Tyson Airport in Knoxville (TYS), about 45 min away. A car is required. The Parkway (Hwy 441) is the main strip — traffic backs up badly in summer, especially after 4pm. Wears Valley Rd (Hwy 321) is a scenic bypass that avoids the strip entirely.
